Yoga for Mental Health
Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to healing that combines traditional yoga practices with modern medical knowledge. It aims to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing by addressing imbalances in the body and mind. Through tailored yoga practices, breathing exercises, and meditation, yoga therapy can help individuals manage various health conditions and improve their overall quality of life.
Yoga therapy can also support:
- Forward head posture and neck tension
- Low back pain and core weakness
- Stress-related muscle tightness and fatigue
Addressing both physical patterns and emotional stress supports overall wellbeing by nurturing the whole person.
Yoga Teacher vs. Yoga Therapist
What’s the difference between a yoga teacher and a yoga therapist?
Level of Training
Yoga teachers typically complete a minimum of 200 hours of training through Yoga Alliance. Yoga therapists certified through IAYT complete 1,000+ hours of specialized training in anatomy, physiology, mental health, and therapeutic application of yogic tools.
Assessment Component
Yoga therapy begins with an assessment to understand your history, current symptoms, and goals. This helps establish a clear baseline and guides the practices we choose together.
Therapeutic Plans
A yoga therapist curates practices for individual clients or groups with similar symptoms, meeting each person where they are and offering step-by-step support toward their goals.
